Story Bird

One Windy Day on StorybirdHey Room 9. Miss Dippie has been learning about this cool website called Storybird. You can create your own story from illustrations from a variety of artist. Have a look at the story I made. What do you think should happen next?
Hey Room 9

Today I am off on a course with all the year 3 and 4 teachers.  Its lots of fun. I have added some fun new websites to our useful website list. One is called Bubbl us - which is great for creating brainstorms and the other one is called 20 questions, where the computer tries to guess the thing you have chosen.

Have a wonderful weekend.

See you on Monday!

Quail Island

On Quail Island we split into 3 groups; visual, auditory and kinesthetic. The visual group took photos on our walk around the island and then took photos of the children doing the other activities in the afternoon. Here is Thom and Ollie's photostory documenting their day at Quail Island.

Quail Island

On Wednesday the year 3's and 4's of Sumner School went to Quail Island. We went to have a fun day and to learn about the history of Quail Island. We drove from the boat, and we went in the Black Cat Ferry to the island. We had to walk a bay on the island where we had our morning tea and left our bags. Most of Room 9 went for a long walk around half of island, while Caite and Lynnette stayed and took lots of photos and collected some cool things like shells, pinecones and feathers and went for a walk to the old jetty. On our walk we saw trough like Wilbur's from Charlotte's Web, and we followed the wrong track and got a bit lost and Mrs Reid came and got us.  But we did get to see some cool things that the other missed like an ant nest, four pheasants and a sign that told us about all the hills and mountains around Quail Island. We saw some dog kennels. Shackleton trained his dogs to take to Antarctica on Quail Island. There were some ship wreaks. There was also a grave for Ivan  Skelton. He died on the island of a bad disease call Leprosy. He had to live there so other people didn't catch it.
After our walk we had our lunch. After lunch we split into our learning groups, and we did some fun activities. There was hut building, water gathering and food gathering for the kinesthetic group. The visual group look photos around the island.  The auditory group was recording some of the information from around the island.
We had a really fun day at Quail Island!  The awesome photos of our day were taken by Thom and Ollie!
