Splash and Dash

 On Friday  24 Feb at 12 o'clock Years 3/4 team had their Splash and Dash. We had to swim a length of the Sumner school pool and then run around the field once if you were a year 3 and twice if you were a year 4.We were lucky with amazing weather. George, Amber and Caite took some amzing pictures of our fun Splash and Dash.

Jak's Whistles

Today Jak brought in two whistles made of clay. He had made them at his neighbour's house. First he got some clay, and he shaped the clay into a whistle. He used ice cream sticks to make holes in the whistle. Jak used glaze (a coloured liquid) to colour his clay. He told us that you can't put glaze on the bottom of the clay or it will stick to the kiln. When you blow into them they make funny noises. They made different noises. The bigger one made a deeper sound than the smaller one.

Aladdin

Today Sumner School went to the school hall and saw a play of Aladdin.
At the start of the play the Princess wanted to be able to do things, and help people. Aladdin rubbed the lamp and there was a genie. The genie gave him a box full of crystal.  There was an evil magician, and he pretended to be Aladdin's uncle and he tricked him into trying to get a magic lamp for him. He threw Aladdin into a deep hole. At the end of the play they had a party.

Harry comes to school

On Wednesday my rabbit came to room 9.  He is white and fluffy. He sat on my knee. Everyone gave him a pat and a feed.  My pet rabbit is amazing.

The Kunekune Pigs

On Monday,we met some pigs. They were fuzzy and cute. Two of the pigs, Grizzle and Lilly scratched their backs on Caite's wheelchair. The pigs ate pellets and grass. We found out that the littlest pig was the boss. Dusty was the biggest and the eldest. They were strong and cute. The biggest pig weighed 20kg. Lilly is only one month old, Dusty is 3 months old and Grizzle was 1 and 1/2 months old.

Today we have been working on our self portraits.
We are making them out of paper! Here are some photos of them so far.

Our first week!

We have done some totally awesome art. It is our name reflected, we did it in crazy writing.
Yesterday we went to the hall, and met Jude, who was going to Antartica. She was going there because that was her dream. We have gone to the library. Our library day is Thursday.
We read a book about a tree hut treaty, and had an idea to write a Room 9 Treaty. We have said we will use our Surfer Values, and that we want to feel appreciated in Room 9.

Room 9 has done some awesome, amazing handwriting! Saskia is our star of the week. She gets to take home Skipper our class penguin!
